National Event in Las Vegas March 31 – April 2

March 2017 – With the H&L Racing team doubling up down in Phoenix, AZ the team looked to use that momentum coming into the Denso Spark Plug National Event in Las Vegas, NV. Unfortunately, racing was limited due to severe winds and rain on Friday. Cody was only able to get one qualifying pass and ended up in the number 5 qualifier out of 64 cars in Super Stock. Jeff on the other hand, was able to get two qualifying passes before heading into eliminations and also ended in the number 5 qualifying spot out of 14 cars. First round was on Saturday for both drivers, and both drivers had similar results. Cody pushed the tree a little too much in the first round and lost to the Arizona Nationals winner, George Stassi, by way of a -.001 red light, ending his weekend early. Jeff faced Keith Mawhee in round 1 and held the slight starting line advantage as the two cars left the line, but had mechanical troubles and the car slowed causing him to lose in the first round as well.
It was short and not so sweet, but the team left with their held high as the rig was finally on its way home from the beginning of the year swing.
